Science-based targets present to organisations a clear picture of the emissions they need to reduce and at what rate in order to prevent our society from suffering the worst impacts from climate change, as well as ensuring sustainable business and economic growth for the future.

For targets to be science-based they need to be in line with the scientific community and meet the goals of limiting global warming to 1.5ºC above pre-industrial levels, from the Paris Agreement. Organisations applying Science-based Targets set themselves on a clear pathway to decarbonisation.
