Carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e)

Carbon dioxide equivalent is a standardised measure of greenhouse gases in terms of carbon dioxide. Non-carbon dioxide greenhouse gases can be converted into the equivalent quantity of carbon dioxide that would be required to generate the same warming effect.

This allows us to calculate equivalent carbon emissions from a mixture of greenhouse gases. The emissions of CO2 equivalent gases is obtained by multiplying the emissions by their Global Warming Potential (GWP) for a 100-year horizon.
